I recently came across the cutest Macrame coasters, but I wasn’t sure what the knot was called. Well, it turns out it’s the Turk’s Head Knot, and it’s super fun to learn!

So far, I made myself a cute set of coasters and some mini fridge magnets. Thanks to the wonderful Macrame tutorials by YouTube channel Let Be, I have so many more fun coasters to knot!

Turk’s Head Knot

A flat Turk’s head coaster is made by laying several Macrame cords into a circular weaving pattern. The size and appearance of the coaster are determined by the number of bights, the rounded sections along the outer edge.

Each increase in bights adds another pass through the center of the coaster, making the weave fuller and denser. Most macramé coasters use 4 to 7 bights; fewer bights create a more open design, while more bights result in a tighter, more solid finish.
