Best DIY Macrame Earring Findings
I love to browse Etsy for earring findings and always get so much inspiration for what types of earrings I want to design.
You can buy earring findings in many different shapes like hexagons, circles, triangles, and squares, but also cute hearts, drops, rainbows, and clouds. You can usually choose between natural wood or shiny silver, gold, and copper metallics for materials.

My favorite go-to shop for Macrame earring findings is Ket Mercantile. Her designs (shown above) are so cute, and I love the excellent quality of the different materials. Ket offers free shipping on all US orders of $35 or more.
TIP! If you’re looking for low-budget plain golden hoops, check out the cheap jewelry section in your drugstore or H&M.
Best DIY Macrame Earring Tools
Did you know you can buy super handy fringe-trimming tools? You can use them with a rotary cutter to easily cut straight lines for small projects like earrings and coasters.
This fringe cutting guide below is by Ket Mercantile, and I use it all the time!

Best Macrame Cords for Earrings
The best Macrame cords for making earrings are Single Twist and Braided Macrame cords between 1.5mm to 3mm thick.
My favorite Macrame cords to make earrings are from a brand called Bobbiny. Their cords are super soft, easy to work with, and come in countless unique colors and metallics!

TIP! Save yourself some money and use your 3, 4, or 5 mm (scrap) cords and split them up into two thinner cords. To make this easier, cut your cords into the desired length first. Then, to split the cord, gently turn it the opposite way of how it’s naturally twisted.
Now divide the strand using your fingernail, starting from the middle. Make sure to gently twist back both new cords, so they don’t unravel further. And there you go, now you’re ready to make some earrings!
How to Create the Perfect Fringe
Creating a fringe for your Macrame earrings is easy, especially when using Bobbiny cords. Make sure to cut the cords first, gently comb them out, and cut the fringe again until it looks perfect.
You can use this handy Fringe Cutting Guide by Ket Mercantile for perfectly straight lines and to speed up your process!

Macrame Work Boards for Earrings
Because earrings are such small projects, you won’t need a big workspace or many tools. I recommend using a Macrame workboard to easily pin your work to a flat surface. You can also use tape to hold your earrings in place while knotting.
