Learning the Lark’s Head Knot

The Larks Head Knot, or the Cow Hitch Knot, is a basic Macrame knot used to attach your work to a dowel, ring, or other cords and is easy to learn.

Besides the basic Lark’s Head Knot and the Reverse Lark’s Head Knot, there are many variations and alternatives. Give your Macrame wall hanging a unique look, and try them all!

Step 1: Fold your cord in half, place it over the dowel and pull the loop down behind it.

Step 2: Pull the loose ends of the cord through the loop.

Step 3: Tighten your cords so it looks like the photo above.
