This beginner-friendly tutorial by Habit Made will teach you all the basics of making your own Macrame bag so you’ll be able to work on your own designs next!

Supplies needed for your Macrame bag

To make this Macrame bag you need a total of 110 meters / 120 yards of 5mm 3-Ply Macrame cords. To get started you will have to cut 36 cords at 305cm / 120 inches.

TIP: To help you evenly align your first row of square knots 2 inches below the dowel, you can attach a piece of cardboard or a ruler to your work.

For this challenge, you are free to slightly alter the pattern and you can use your own favorite Macrame cords and colors.

Please make sure to adjust the cord measurements when you’re using a different type of cord (braided or single twist instead of 3-Ply) or different cord thickness. We can’t wait to see your gorgeous designs!
